Nine Mile Falls Elementary’s annual Color Run is quickly approaching on June 6. Our goal is to raise $6,000 to provide school supplies for students next year. Reach out to your friends, family, neighbors and local businesses to see if they are willing to donate.
Our PTG is offering daily prizes for money submitted each day. To qualify for a daily prize, students need to submit at least $1 to their teacher. Your student will then receive a ticket that can be redeemed for select prizes leading up to the run on June 6.
On the day of the event, there will be music, walking and running activities, chalk powder dispersed among students, and popsicles to help everyone cool down.
If you have any questions, please contact your student’s teacher or the school office for more information. Thank you for all your continued support, we really do have the best community.

Good morning, Nine Mile families,
We hope you enjoyed your four-day weekend.
We have only a few weeks of school remaining, but we’ve packed them with many fun, end-of-the-year activities. Please see the attached June newsletter to help you navigate the final weeks of school.
As we wrap up this school year, we wanted to remind you of some things to take care of this summer to ensure a smooth transition into the next school year:
All students with Asthma, Diabetes, EpiPens, and Seizures must turn in a new Emergency Care Plan for 2025-2026. It must be signed by the student's healthcare provider and parent/guardian. Students must also bring their unexpired medications to the school nurse or secretary by the first day of school. If your student had a care plan this year, we would mail you a new one to complete for next year. You can also find all health forms at
https://www.9mile.org/o/district/page/health-forms.
For students who have Dietary restrictions (Gluten Free, etc) please connect with your child's doctor over the summer to complete a "Diet Order" so the school can accommodate. You will find the form on our school district website: Request for Special Dietary Accommodations
If your child needs medication for next school year (OTC-Tylenol, Prescribed Medications), connect with your doctor and complete a "Medication Request Form". On the first day of school, parent can bring in the med form and designated medication to the front office. HS-300A Medication Request Form
In Washington state, all children must be vaccinated prior to entering school unless the parent/guardian completes a certificate of exemption. Please refer to our school district website for the certificate of exemption form: Certificate of Exemption Personal/Religious .Please refer to this site regarding what Immunizations need to be completed prior to school starting or connect with your child's physician: Required Immunizations for School Year 2024-2025
If you have any questions about these topics or other health concerns, please reach out to Karen McPherson, School Nurse, by email
Kmcpherson@9mile.org or call 509-340-4071 (LSE Healthroom).
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your teacher or the office.
Thank you,
The Nine Mile Falls Elementary Team

This is a reminder that testing starts tomorrow. I have included a flyer with the testing dates for each grade. Students might feel a bit nervous about testing, so please ensure they get plenty of sleep, eat a nutritious breakfast, arrive at school on time and ready to learn, and feel encouraged to discuss any questions or concerns they may have.
Make-up testing will be held on May 8, 9, 16, 30, and June 2.
Our wonderful PTG has provided snacks to help keep students engaged and energized.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your student's teacher.

Kindergarten enrollment is open.
If your student is currently enrolled in our TK program, you do not need to enroll them for kindergarten, as they will be promoted.
The only form you will need to complete is the annual verification form, which will be emailed at the beginning of the school year to confirm that we have the correct information or that nothing has changed.

Dear Kindergarten through 5th Grade Families, As we enter the assessment season, we want to share some helpful information and tips to support your child during state and school testing. We believe assessments are one of many tools we use to help understand student growth and guide instruction. (Note-Transitional Kindergarten does not participate in these assessments.)
Why Assessments Matter Assessments such as the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) and Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) provide valuable insights into your child’s academic progress. They help us evaluate both individual achievement and the effectiveness of our instruction. In addition, we will be using this assessment data to reflect on our progress toward meeting our School Improvement Plan goals. This plan outlines key academic focus areas and targets for our school. You can view the full plan on our website under Parents/Students > Academics. Helpful Practices at Home You can play an important role in helping your child feel confident and prepared. Here are a few tips:
● Ensure Plenty of Rest: Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep before testing days.
● Eat a Healthy Breakfast: A nutritious breakfast fuels focus and concentration.
● Be On Time: Arriving on time helps reduce stress and ensures your child is settled before testing begins.
● Stay Positive: Encouragement goes a long way! Remind your child that they’ve been working hard and that tests are just one part of their learning journey.
● Minimize Absences: Try to avoid scheduling appointments or time away during testing windows.
● Talk About the Test: Ask your child how they felt about the test afterward. Let them share and decompress.
