I miss you Nine Mile.  Today is May 6th, and it is approximately 6:00 PM

Hey kids...we need you to be engaged in your learning.   Please check-in and communicate with your teachers as the school year is still in session!  I am telling you the same thing that I tell my own kid:  “You have a job to do; get crackin’.”

Tomorrow, Thursday May 7th, we will be hosting another Fresh and Frozen food distribution at Lakeside Middle School between 11 AM and noon.  I was able to attend last week’s event and was impressed with the civil, respectful process.  It was gratifying to watch the Lakeside Middle School Student Action Team as they greeted close to 100 families, while packing boxes of food into each vehicle.  Again, much appreciation to Generation Alive and 2nd Harvest for this amazing gift to our community.

Thanks to Governor Inslee, the fishing season is now open!  Beginning this Friday, the Eighth Annual Fishing Derby will be held at Rosauers between the hours of 3:30 to 7:00 PM.  This event was the brainchild of the Bea Rice and Teri Meyer families to support food availability for kids during the summer months.  You can participate in the Derby by buying tuna fish, peanut butter, and/or other commodities that will go directly to the Tum Tum Food Pantry.  If you are unable to get to Rosauers during this time, we will be collecting donated food items during the week of May 11-15 at Lake Spokane Elementary School.  Thanks for being an awesome community that supports others in times of need.

There are many things for which to be thankful. We have found that self-isolation doesn’t have to be isolating. People have found ways to come together in this community, and we continue to support each other in and outside of our homes. Collectively...we continue to act in a way that matches our beliefs - I am 9 Mile Proud.
