Superintendent's Message

Nine Mile Falls Parents and Community Members:

As we roll into the month of November, I wanted to share how thankful I am to work, live, and serve in such an amazing community. During the Middle School student-led October conferences, I had the privilege of engaging in conversations with many of our families about our schools. These conversations just reminded me how fortunate and thankful I am to be a member of a community that places such a high value on the education of our children.

If you haven’t heard, a huge congratulations to our fall high school scholar-athletes! This past weekend all of our fall athletic teams either qualified for state playoffs or competed in a state championship. Our Lakeside High School girls soccer team, volleyball team, and football team all qualified to begin their state playoff run this week. Our boys cross country team finished 7th in the state this past weekend and our girls cross country team won a second consecutive state championship! Congratulations to all of these scholar-athletes and best of luck in the playoffs!

Parents, every month during the school year we hold a Parent Engagement Committee meeting which all are welcome to attend. Our next Parent Engagement Committee meeting will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, in Room 9 at Lakeside High School from 6 pm-7:30 pm. The main topic for this meeting will be a presentation from Officer Mike Thomas from the Spokane Police Department regarding drug and alcohol prevention/education; with the goal of scheduling a community event in the future. Please join us!

Parents and guardians, this is our final push to ask you to take the Family Survey we launched in late October. This survey provides us with your feedback on how we are doing as a district and as individual schools. If you haven’t taken the survey, please help us gather this important data…your voice matters! You can access the anonymous survey from this link: EES Family Survey Link: Nine Mile Falls SD. The survey will close at the end of the day on November 7th.

Finally, we are looking for one parent from each school to volunteer to serve on our Calendar Committee. The calendar committee is made up of employees from each building who help to develop multiple calendars to present for a vote among all employees in the district. We would love a parent voice from each school to be a part of this work. If you are interested, please fill out this linked application.

Go Eagles!
