    On Saturday,March 3, six teams from our school district (elementary through middle school) traveled to Richland, Washington, to compete at the Destination Imagination Eastern Washington Regional Competition. Out of 82 teams competing, our schools brought home five medals and four special awards!

    Lake Spokane Elementary: The Gnarly Narwhals competed in the Scientific, Unlikely Attraction Challenge. They received the “DaVinci Award" for overall creativity, planning and building of their intricate, 'hydraulic claw."

    Nine Mile Falls Elementary: 7 Explosions placed third in the Fine Arts, Change of Tune Challenge. They received the “DaVinci Award" for their creative ability to turn “one man’s trash into another man’s treasure.” 

    Lakeside Middle School:

    The 6th grade team placed first in the Fine Arts, Change of Tune Challenge. They received the “DaVinci Award" for the team's original music using both cups and metal bars — with choreography! They advance to State.

    The 6th grade team, The Super Snazzy Disappearing Rainbows, placed first in the Service Learning, Project Outreach Challenge and took first place in their Instant Challenge. They advance to State.

    The 7th grade team, The Girls Who Didn’t Wear Shoes,  took second place in the Scientific, Unlikely Attraction Challenge. They received the “DaVinci Award" for overall creativity, superior quality and unlikely nature of their Solution. They advance to State.

    The 7th grade team, Mixed Marines, took first place in the Scientific, Unlikely Attraction Challenge and took first place in their Instant Challenge. They advance to State.

    All of the teams worked very hard for months perfecting their performances and building their sets, props and engineered contraptions.  Congratulations on a job well done.  On to State March 23-24!
