We will be using the following rubric in our 2nd grade classroom. Below we've listed the criteria we will use in giving out the four different numbers. Hopefully this will help you when you see a 1, 2, 3, or 4 at the top of your child"s paper to know what it means. This is the same rubric used on the report card.

    • 1 - Area of Concern:  The student shows little or no progress. The student may be working on materials below grade level.
    • 2 - Developing:  The student shows partial accomplishment of grade level knowledge and/or skill in a specific situation or with support.
    • 3 - Competent:  The student demonstrates solid performance appropriate to content and grade level.
    • 4 - Excellence:  The student demonstrates superior performance and skill appropriate to content and grade level.  The student may also have gone beyond requirements and done more than what was asked.
