April 25, 2016

Dear LHS Seniors and Families:

Congratulations on a great year!  As you near the end of your high school career, please know that we are proud of your accomplishments and plans for the future.  The Class of 2016 has had a great influence on our students and staff.

As the year ends, we want all of you to have the information needed to make the days go smoothly.  A list of activities and the permission form necessary to participate in Senior Week activities before graduation is avialable in the main office.  The form must be signed by a parent/guardian and the graduate in order to participate in the activities.

Graduation ceremonies will be held at The INB Performing Arts Center on Friday June 3rd at 8 PM.  Graduation is a formal event that requires appropriate behavior and dress.  We want to create an environment that will honor each graduate, so your support in this special event is appreciated.  In order to participate in the graduation ceremony, students must:

  • Continue to attend all courses.  Please remember our district’s attendance policy.
  • Complete all course work and credit requirements.  If seniors have not passed a required class, they will not participate in the ceremony.  Grades will be determined on Wednesday, June 1st @1:00pm.
  • Complete the check out for each course, sport, or activity.  This includes paying all fines and fees.  Forms will be available on May 31st.
  • Wear appropriate clothes to the ceremony consistent with school policies.  Please, no jeans, hats, shorts, t-shirts, or flip-flop sandals.  Remember that this is a formal event.
  • Follow all school and district rules.  These are in effect throughout Senior Week and at graduation.  Any student suspected of alcohol or drug use will be immediately removed from the senior activity and graduation ceremony.

Students who meet the above district requirements, but have not met the state requirements associated with the state standards may still participate in the graduation ceremonies.  They will not receive a diploma until all state requirements are met, but we want these seniors to be able to participate in the graduation ceremonies with their classmates.

We also want to remind all seniors about being good citizens in our community.  Please do not ruin your great reputation by vandalizing or defacing public and private property with spray paint or other negative reminders of your class.  We have had many complaints about this type of activity in the past.  Don’t let a bad decision just before a great day jeopardize your participation.

Finish Strong!  Please remember we are Eagles.  Please return the permission forms for Senior Week activities to Mrs. King by May 17, 2016.
