Under a scorching hot sun, students at Nine Mile Falls Elementary ran their second “Tour de Feet.” This year’s event was held on Friday, May 16th. “It’s awesome,” stated a fifth grader. “Everyone’s gathered in one place to help our school.” Pledges were obtained by students who ran/walked laps for one hour (kindergartners~1/2 hour). Now an annual fund raising event for the Parent Teacher Group (PTG), the goal was to raise $5500 to purchase two additional document cameras. This was achieved and more; over $6,000 was raised. With the additional monies, the PTG will look at buying school supplies and/or recess equipment after the remodel. Since the student body exceeded its goal, each classroom won a movie and popcorn party given by the PTG. Any student who brought in $20 received a “Tour de Feet” T-shirt. Mrs .Herbes’ class earned the title for “most money” earned, and Mrs. Norstadt’s class ran the most laps; both classes won a lunch party. The top money earner for each classroom won a homework pass, while the top lap runners won a pass to go to the front of the lunch line. A limo ride and a “go to the front of the lunch line” pass was awarded to the sixteen students who brought in the most money school wide. The
