Tour de Feet

One student in full sprint as another takes a walking lap at Nine Mile Falls Elementary’s
Tour de Feet.

Under a scorching hot sun, students at Nine Mile Falls Elementary ran their second “Tour de Feet.” This year’s event was held on Friday, May 16th. “It’s awesome,” stated a fifth grader. “Everyone’s gathered in one place to help our school.” Pledges were obtained by students who ran/walked laps for one hour (kindergartners~1/2 hour). Now an annual fund raising event for the Parent Teacher Group (PTG), the goal was to raise $5500 to purchase two additional document cameras. This was achieved and more; over $6,000 was raised. With the additional monies, the PTG will look at buying school supplies and/or recess equipment after the remodel.

Since the student body exceeded its goal, each classroom won a movie and popcorn party given by the PTG. Any student who brought in $20 received a “Tour de Feet” T-shirt. Mrs .Herbes’ class earned the title for “most money” earned, and Mrs. Norstadt’s class ran the most laps; both classes won a lunch party. The top money earner for each classroom won a homework pass, while the top lap runners won a pass to go to the front of the lunch line. A limo ride and a “go to the front of the lunch line” pass was awarded to the sixteen students who brought in the most money school wide.

The PTG would like to thank the following sponsors,
along with all the volunteers who helped to make this event so successful:
Classy Limo, Brunette Sportswear, Cascading Creations, Central Chiropractic,
Gropp Electric, McDonalds, Northwest Masonry, Pediatric Associates of Spokane, Pizza Factory, and Walmart.
