Principal's Message

Lakeside High School experienced a very positive year in 2006/2007, marked by increases in student achievement data and a clear direction for our future. Our data and survey results tell us that we are a very good high school, but we want to become a leader for public high schools in the state. We want to become a premiere school where students exceed state standards, like those measured on the WASL, and where students are ready for college-level work.

Our mission is to educate students to become responsible, contributing members of society. We have been basing our work on what research indicates is very effective: building rigor, relevance, and relationships. Our students have given us a lot to celebrate.
Celebrations:

• Our WASL scores improved in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. All are well above state averages and among the highest for schools with our demographics. Over 90% of our sophomores met or exceeded standards in both reading and writing.
• Our Class of 2007 was offered over $1 million in scholarships, the highest in our history.
• Thirty-three graduates earned Honors or High Honors for their high school careers.
• Five graduates completed their AA degrees with their high school diploma.
• For the third year in a row, we have students competing at the National level in Culinary Arts for FCCLA. We had many State place winners.
• Our athletes won four State Championships: two in academics and two in athletics.
• Football competed in the State playoffs and finished as State Academic Champs.
• Boys’ Cross Country finished as League, District, Regional, and State Champs.
• Girls’ Cross Country finished as League, District, Regional champs, and 5th in State.
• Volleyball finished as District Champs and 2nd in State.
• Girls’ Soccer competed in the State playoffs.
• Wrestling finished as League, District, Regional champs and 5th in State with 2 wrestlers winning individual State Championships.
• Gymnastics won the State Academic Championship.
• Baseball finished as League champs, Regional champs, and 4th in State.
• Fastpitch finished as League champs and 3rd in State.
• Boys’ Soccer finished as League champs and competed at the State level for the first time in the program’s history.
• Boys’ Golf finished as Regional champs and sent competitors to State.
• Girls’ Golf finished as League champs and sent a competitor to State.
• Boys’ Tennis finished as League champs and sent competitors to State.
• Girls’ Tennis finished as League champs and sent competitors to State.
• Boys’ Track sent competitors to State.
• Girls’ Track finished as League, District, Regional, and State champions, with one student athlete winning the State Pole Vault championship.

We are extremely fortunate to have such a supportive parent and school community. Thank you for your help as we continue to improve into a great high school.

Sincerely, Mark St.Clair, Principal
