Guaranteed Education Tuition: GET

Tuition at Washington state's public universities has increased nearly 40 percent in the past four years. In response, the state’s Legislature created the Washington Guaranteed Education Tuition Program, or GET. This program allows parents to buy GET college tuition units now for use in the future. GET accounts can be used in over 35,000 colleges across the country.

The money parents put into GET is guaranteed by the State of Washington to keep pace with rising tuition costs. The parents decide how much and how often to purchase units. There are also valuable tax benefits, as GET is a qualified tuition program under Section 529 of the federal tax code.
