Attention Seniors: Are You Considering College?

Most four year colleges require incoming Freshmen to submit either the ACT or SAT I exam score for consideration for admission. This IS a requirement at all four year colleges in the State of Washington. Many will accept either score, however, check with each college for its admission guidelines. These tests can be taken more than once, if a student is not satisfied with his/her test score. A test fee will be charged each time a test is taken.

Some college and scholarship applications are due as early as October of the student's senior year. A student can apply to a college and send his/her test score at a later date. Test scores can be sent directly to more than one college. If you are interested in attending college, please see Mrs. Kassa in the Counseling Office as soon as possible.

Information on application deadlines, test dates, and test fees for the SAT can be found at www.collegeboard.com
Information on on application deadlines, test dates, and test fees for the ACT can be found at www.act.org/aap

You can register for both tests online

Attention Juniors
What is the PSAT?
Each October Lakeside High School offers the PSAT, Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test, to its students. This test is given to juniors as a precursor to the SAT that is required for college entrance. By taking the PSAT in their junior year or earlier, students can gain valuable feedback on improving academic skills needed for college.
Sometime in December, Lakeside High School's Career and Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Jill Kassa, will meet with each student who took the PSAT to review his/her "Score Report Plus." A question by question review of the student's answers will be given to see which answers were correct and which were wrong. Attention can be paid to how the student might have misinterpreted the questions, leading to wrong answers. The original test booklet is available for additional practice. Students will also receive a personalized read out of academic skill areas that need improvement. Suggestions on ways to improve those skills are provided as well. This individualized attention given to our students by Mrs. Kassa is part of Lakeside High School’s commitment to its students to help them achieve their highest potential.
