Band and Choir Concert

Two students play their trumpets

Choral and instrumental music filled Lakeside Middle School’s auditorium as the sixth grade band and sixth and seventh grade choirs gave their first concerts of the year. Parents and patrons were treated to this musical event on Thursday, October 25th. Mr. Karl Mote is the school’s band director, while Mrs. Theresa Nelson directs the choir.

Leading the evening of music was the Sixth Grade Band. They played three selections: Sounds of Fury, Rimrock Overture, and Sounds of Sousa. In between the pieces, eight “specials’ were played. These specials consisted of solos or small groups. To be selected for this honor, the students prepared a piece and had to audition.

To begin their concert, the choir sang Yonder Come the Day and We the People. For the selections Falling Leaves and Bawana Awabriki several choir members also played a variety of instruments to accompany the pieces. One of the seventh graders had the distinction of directing the choir during The Pledge of Allegiance.
