It Touches All of Us

For the last few years, Mrs. Anne Remien has created a special Veterans Day bulletin board at Lake Spokane Elementary School. To honor our service men and women, she asks her Kindergartners to bring in photos of their relatives in their uniforms. This gives these young learners a visual reference to just how many lives are touched by people who are dedicated to protecting our freedom. “I started it as a tribute to my own father who was a WWII vet. He was always proud of his service and instilled a strong sense of patriotism and pride in my sister and I. It’s a way for me to continue that legacy and allow all of us to see that it is truly like ripples in the pond. We are all affected,” explained Mrs. Remien.

This bulletin board correlates very nicely with the school’s Annual Veterans Day Assembly to which all service personnel are invited and honored. Stop by Lake Spokane and view the bulletin board in the lobby. Please feel free to attend the Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 9th, at 1:30 p.m., in the gym.
