Due to these four missed days, we will need to adjust the school calendar. March 14th and May 23rd, were previously scheduled as non-student days. March 14 and May 23 will now be regular student days. As a result of State approval, the two remaining missed days are waived allowing us to keep Spring Break, graduation, and the end of the school year the same as scheduled. The District has had much to celebrate as we bring closure to the winter sports season. A big congratulation goes to Troy Hughes and our State Championship Wrestling Team. It is a great example of what hard work and dedication can produce. There are many constructive lessons and skills that our kids learn through our extra curricular programs. Our teachers are also committing their hearts and minds to improving the education of our young people. Through Collaboration Time on Thursday mornings, teachers in all of our buildings are working together to align curriculum, outline instructional practices, design lessons, derive common assessments, analyze data results, etc. We are very excited about the progress on our construction projects. The planning phases are continuing productively. The building designs for both Nine Mile Elementary and Lake Spokane Elementary are tuning up very nicely. As difficult as it is to be patient for the start of the actual construction, the planning time has been most important and will ensure that our kids, staff, parents, and community will be able to enjoy two incredible facilities when we conclude our work. Again, thank you very much for your support in the “YES” vote last spring that enabled us to launch these vital additions and improvements to our elementary schools. As usual, if you have any questions, please feel free to call me. 340-4040.
