Spring
2007 - Michael Green announced accepting a new position.
Bridget Lewis appointed Interim Superintendent by School Board, and
Kevin Simpson appointed Interim Principal
at LSE for 2007/2008 school year. Both were given one year leaves to
allow for these assignments.
Summer 2007 - Board chose Professional Search Firm to aid NMFSD in search
process.
Fall 2007 - Two Community meetings to allow for public input into the
Search process. Board has follow-up meetings to determine final search
criteria.
Late Fall -Posting of position online began; a closing date of December
7, 2007.
December 14, 2007 - Sitting Board and newly elected Board met with consultants
to review files.
Four finalists were selected and notified. Staff and community notified
and asked for continued input into selection.
January 9, 2008 - Superintendent candidates visited NMFSD and each met
with:
Students - 45 minutes
Administrators - 1 1/2 hours
School Board - 1 1/2 hours
District Office Personnel - 45 minutes
Certificated staff - 25 minutes
Classified staff - 25 minutes
Community - 2 hours
(Review of all input from these sessions)
January 18, 2008 - Site visit by three Board Members to NMFSD
January 23, 2008 - Site visit by two Board Members to Mead SD
January 24, 2008 - Site visit by 2 Board Members to White Pass SD.
January 25, 2008 - Board Meeting to share information and to
discuss candidates. Contract offered to Brian Talbott of the White Pass School
District. Phone calls
with results to each candidate and
administrators.

Your Board of Directors is pleased to announce the conclusion of an extensive
search for your new Superintendent. All of our candidates possessed wonderful
qualities, and this was a very difficult decision. Thank you for all
of the input and time that was given to us as we conducted this search.
At this time, we are pleased to announce that we have entered into
contract negotiations
with Brian Talbott, currently the Superintendent of the White Pass School
District. We are very thankful to all the candidates for giving of their
time and going
through this extensive search process. Please support us as we continue to
work with Bridget as our Interim Superintendent, and she continues
to serve our District
so well through June 30. We are very excited as we continue to move the District
forward.
