State
Testing To Begin in March
To ensure that school districts across the state are providing
a high level of education to all students, Washington developed Essential Academic
Learning Requirements (EALRs). EALRs are broad statements of expected learning.
Within the EALRs are Grade Level Expectations (GLEs), which describe the skill
or process to be learned within subject areas. School Districts must align
their curriculum with these EALRs and GLEs to meet the standard of education
that the State feels is essential. Measurement of how well school districts
are complying is assessed by the Washington Assessment of Student Learning
(WASL).
Please remember the following:
-
The state has set mandatory testing dates.
-
If a sophomore is absent for any reason on the test date, s/he must retake
the entire section on the preset retake date in August*.
-
If a sophomore does not pass a section of the WASL, s/he must retake
the section on the preset retake date in August*.
-
A high school student may take the WASL five times.
-
Please take the mandated testing dates into consideration when
making doctor/dentist appointments or family plans.
If you have questions regarding State testing, please contact
Mrs. Debbie Lahue, Director of Learning: 340-4300 or dlahue@9mile.org.
