On December 7th, 2007, Governor Christine Gregoire issued a proclamation declaring January 2008 as School Board Recognition Month in the state of Washington. This declaration complements a nationwide effort to honor elected school board directors in our public school systems. In the proclamation, Governor Gregoire shared that “school directors play a crucial role in promoting student learning and achievement by creating a vision, establishing policies and budgets, and setting clear standards of accountability for all involved.”

In compliance with this proclamation, the Nine Mile Falls School Board Directors were honored at the January School Board Meeting by Interim Superintendent Bridget Lewis. Each Director and Student School Board Representative was given a Recognition Certificate and a box of chocolates. The middle school’s auditorium was also decorated with signs made by students from all four schools, thanking the Directors for their time and commitment. Mrs. Lewis added, “Your role is very important to our District, and we appreciate your willingness to serve.” School Board Directors contribute hundreds of volunteer hours each year, making decisions aimed at improving student learning.

Thank you Vicki, Greg, Debbie, Kyle, Cori, and the student reps!
