A Labor of Love

With help from a student's mother, D-Anna Nolan, and grandmother, Theresa West, fourth graders at Nine Mile Falls Elementary School gave a gift from the heart to a local shelter and hospital. Mrs. West and Mrs. Nolan came to school one day last October with all the materials needed to make a center square for a quilt. Colorful, cheerful messages and pictures decorated the squares to brighten up the day of the eventual recipients.

Next, Mrs. West gathered all the center squares and worked the entire year to make 25 very special and unique quilts. “It was really fun,” commented one fourth grader. “It made me feel really good ‘cause we were giving a quilt to someone who really needs it.”
