Lakeside
Middle School’s thirty-four member chorus gave
a concert for friends and family on Thursday, March
20th. Six selections were performed: Cantate Hodie,
Body Percussion, The Moon, Bwana Awabariki, Pirate
Story, and Pete, Pete. In Body Percussion, the choir
members demonstrated their beat counting skills by “playing” the
piece in sync through claps, stomps, clicks, and snaps.
During Bwana Awabariki and Pete, Pete, choir members
played a variety of instruments to accompany the selections.
Then
on Monday, March 24th, the choir participated in a
Choral Festival at Spokane Falls Community College.
Choirs from the Spokane areas not only competed, but
received instruction. “One conductor helped us
with our tone,” explained one student. Our students
did very well and are awaiting their scores. Mrs. Nelson
was very proud of their performance.
